Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) today joined physicians, advocates, and patients at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Northeast Philadelphia to mark the unanimous House passage of his bipartisan Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act and call on the Senate to swiftly take up the legislation. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related death among women in the United States, even as overall cancer rates have declined.

Today, Congressmen Brendan F. Boyle (D-PA-02) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01) announced that the House of Representatives has passed their bipartisan Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act. This bill addresses the unique impact of lung cancer on women through enhanced research, preventive services, and public awareness. The legislation now moves to the Senate, where a companion bill is led by Senators Tina Smith (D-MN) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV).

About Brendan
Congressman Brendan F. Boyle was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia. The son of an immigrant, Congressman Boyle’s father was a janitor for SEPTA and his mother was a school crossing guard. The first in his family to attend college, he attended the University of Notre Dame and later graduated from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government with a master's degree in Public Policy.
